Day 1 Arrival – Play The New Course
Fly into Edinburgh Airport and transfer to St Andrew’s and play the New Course.
The oldest ‘new’ course in the world, the other course at the Home of Golf was built by the Keeper of the Green Tom Morris in 1895. It was imaginatively named to differentiate from its famous neighbour. Boasting undulating fairways and challenging greens, the New Course is a classic test of links golf. As those who have played it will testify, it is very much not a second course in terms of challenge, character and terrain.
Day 2 Play Carnoustie
Designed in 1850 by Alan Robertson with minor changes by Mackenzie and Ebert in 2017, Carnoustie is a world-renowned links golf course. A host to The Open on seven occasions, Carnoustie last hosted the Championship in 2018.
A very challenging links course, who can forget Jean Van de Velde’s Open demise on the 18th hole in the Barry Burn!
Not the most scenic of courses (you rarely get glimpses of the sea), it nevertheless tests every shot in the bag on more than one occasion.
Day 3 Play Crail - Balcomie Links
Balcomie Links, 50 miles from Edinburgh and 25 miles from Carnoustie, has stunning seaside views, years of history and hugely enjoyable golf course.
Balcomie Links is a traditional, classic links course was laid out by the old master himself, Tom Morris, and opened in 1895.
At 5861 yard and a par 69 course it is short but testing golfing experience.
Day 4 Play Kingsbarns
Situated just 6 miles from St Andrews Kingsbarns is an important addition to the ancient links courses in this area. One of the delights of the course is that you can see the North Sea from virtually every part of the course. Created by the vision of Kyle Philips in the late 20th century earthmovers rumbled and shifted hundreds and thousands of tonnes of earth to create the landscape you see today, uncovering The Cambo burn as part of the work.
Kingsbarns jointly hosts The Alfred Dunhill Cup every year and has also hosted The Women’s British Open in the past few years.
Day 5 Play The Old Course St Andrews
The oldest and most iconic golf course in the world. The home of golf.
The Swilken Bridge and Hell Bunker are recognised across the globe, yet the greatest feature of the Old Course is that despite its grand status it remains a public golf course, open to all.
Day 6 Departure
A quiet and leisurely start to the day with breakfast available throughout the morning. Check-out is at midday before heading for home
